“Solar Green House” is a project resulting from an experiment conducted by a group of students, architects and experts from the Master in Advanced Ecological Buildings and Biocities (MAEBB) of Valldaura Self-sufficient Labs, a laboratory of IAAC (Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia).

The project is an experiment that proposes a greenhouse suitable for a generation capable of self-producing energy and food for sustenance.
The overall aim is to build and test a prototype that can be replicated in other urban or rural places.

The scenery of the natural park of Collserola welcomes the new building which represents a driving force for an innovative form of architecture capable of adapting and reinterpreting in an ecological way the conditions of crisis that characterize the most recent times.

The Solar Green House fully complies with the criteria of the “zero emissions” philosophy: from the construction to how the spaces are used, the choice of materials, energy and construction techniques become consumption-conscious (economic and environmental) and sustainable processes.

The prototype is made entirely of pine timber – extracted, collected, and processed in a sustainable way in the Valldaura area – and includes the germination area on the ground floor and the cultivation area on the upper floor.
The final aim of the project is to trigger a circular process in which architecture is a substantial component.
