The Italian Pavilion designed by Carlo Ratti, Italo Rota, Matteo Gatto and F&M Ingegneria for Expo 2020 Dubai has received the award for best business project of the year at the Construction Innovation Awards in the United Arab Emirates.

The designers worked on the symbol of the hull of the boats, as an emblem of the voyage as “the history of Italian people and explorers who over the centuries have traversed seas and distant lands, weaving contacts and relationships with the whole world”. The reuse of boats, the designers emphasise, echoes the themes of sustainability and recycling.

The Pavilion is being built with the contribution of partner companies invited to collaborate in the selection of the best construction, plant engineering, technological and scenic components, capable of demonstrating the most innovative skills involved today in sustainability, the circular economy and digital architecture.
The Pavilion was inaugurated on 1st October.
